Airtel Africa and Facebook launch free basic services in Nigeria

Bharati Airtel Africa, a leading telecom service provider company with operation in 17 countries in Africa announced its partnership with Facebook which is launch of Free Basics internet services in Africa.

Recently, Airtel Nigeria announce Free basics Service in Nigeria.


Airtel Nigeria will provide 85 websites of news, health, sports, weather, education, jobs and Entertainment under Free Basics Service free of charge. 

What is free basics by Facebook?
Facebook, a social networking company has been launched the free basics service to access internet in affordable price in un/underdeveloped countries in the world.

Free Basics is a set of basic websites and services to introduce people to the internet and demonstrate how it adds value to their lives. They include providing free health, education and finance-related information to people in developing countries so that they can make informed choices and decisions to improve their lives.

Airtel had already been working with Facebook since 2014 in enhancing internet accessibility in affordable manner through free basics in Zambia, Kenya, Malawi, Ghana, Seychelles and Rwanda.
